Four of the country’s leading Arab-American and Muslim-American advocacy organizations today issued a rare joint letter expressing strong reservations about a recently released Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee report on “homegrown terrorism.”

A representative of CAIR today joined a press conference titled “Muslim Voices on Darfur,” which was hosted by Amnesty International and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), on Capitol Hill. Representatives Donald Payne (D-NJ), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Andre Carson (D-IN) all spoke.
A coalition of Catholic and Muslim religious leaders called for the South Florida community to join in a relief effort to raise funds for victims in storm ravaged Myanmar. "The crisis in Myanmar crosses religious and ethnic lines,'' said Altaf Ali, head of the South Florida chapter of CAIR.
On Saturday, May 10, a team of Southern California Muslims joined the "Field of Dreams" OC AIDS Walk to help raise awareness of the disease and funds needed to provide services to AIDS patients and their families. The team, called "Muslims Care," was sponsored by CAIR-Los Angeles.
The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a statement that the need to accommodate people using service dogs far outweighs the discomfort an individual Muslim feels about coming in contact with a dog.
On Saturday, June 7, a team of Muslims sponsored CAIR will help raise breast cancer awareness by taking part in the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure in Washington, D.C.
